*****Workout for the Upper Body

The upper body exercises in the swimming pool are taken to a new level with a resistance tool that combines both your own body weight and the buoyancy of the ergnomic swim board. Essentially the movement is identical to the push up on land, with the only difference being you are pushing down into the water.

One of the items we must be conscious of during our push down movement is our posture. Just as land fitness demands good posture, so too, water fitness. When pushing down into the water for a number of repetitions, if you doubt whether you have the right posture especially with your neck, simply turn your head to the side.

If you wish to compare the resistance differential, take this challenge. Try a complete set of push downs with the ergonomic fitness tool and then take your workout over to the edge of the pool and try wall push up on the vertical wall of your swimming pool.

Still seeking other varieties of exercise movements? Another variety of push up in the water, is the push up on the ledge of the pool. This movement will give you more resistance but it will also take your body substantially out of the water.

A fantastic upper body exercise is the tricep dips. Target toning for the back of the arms is a hard to tone section of the human body but with the EZ Swimmer in the Seated Balance position, it is very simple and it is customized to your own body weight. Remember the water is all about your own body composition. If you are heavier, you will typically have a body that is more prone to buoyancy. If you have a low percentage of body fat, you will tend to have a hard time floating in the water. The water recognized your body composition, not the weight of your body. Remember, the water has special properties. Your resting heart rate lowers when you are more than chest deep in water. The water also offers less impact upon your joints. It is only in the water that you have 360 degrees of resistance. And it is only in the water where your workout is customized based upon your own body composition.

ANOTHER GREAT UPPER BODY EXERCISE - ABS AND UPPER BODY TOO - ALLIGATOR ABS

The utlimate in an upper body exercise in the water is the alligator abs. This exercise is particularly difficult but equally rewarding. Alligator abs targets your abs and your upper body. Essentially you are using the body board called the EZ Swimmer as if it were a medicine ball. Take the buoyant fitness tool across your body from left to right.
