*****Workout for the Abdominals - Train Your Abs Crunch

Land fitness calls them sit-ups. In the swimming pool, with the fitness tool called the EZ Swimmer, the most descriptive term for engaging the abdominal muscles we have found is "Train Your Abs Crunch". For you see it is a crunch. It is not a sit-up by conventional means because you have no gravity. The lack of gravity demand a slightly different body position.

In the water, IF you do not round your back, your body's reaction is initially to engage your back muscles. It is your abdominal muscles that support your back and help carry us erect. Yet, many of us don't understand how the muscles work together to help us.

IF our abdominal muscles are weak often we will overcompensate with the back muscles which places too much strain upon the discs in our back. Likewise, if we don't develop our leg muscles, often we will experience knee pain.

The body is designed to work as a team. A full body workout enables all team members to play effectively and in a healthy manner.
