Beginning Swim Fitness
Water Walking with the EZ Swimmer®: simply place comfortably in front of your clients and have them hold the fitness tool for stability. This allows your clients to become comfortable with this soft fitness tool.
Build Your Abs: It is said that the sexiest part of the human body is the abs, not the butt, not the biceps but a great waist line. But this is hard to do – sit-ups are rough on land. But in the water with the EZ Swimmer – they are amazing and we really mean amazing. Build Your Abs with the EZ Swimmer® is as easy as holding on to the fitness tool with your body underneath, sculpted side up (see our exercise poster for a diagram). Your client determines the amount of resistance. Remember to remind your client – this is a small movement. Isolating your front abdominal muscles is a critical exercise whether with this fitness tool or on the side of the pool.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Crunches for the rectus abdominis absolutely must be worked with a rounded back – rolling up the spine. In other words, if you are not rounding your back, you will have an arched back, you want to roll the spine up. This form of the rounded back is different from the form needed for squats or other standing movements. If the back is not rounded, and there is no intense contraction of the rectus abdominis (AKA the six pack muscles), the internal and external obliques, and the back muscles may become engaged – this is the wrong movement.
The leg raises on the side of the pool are excellent abdominal exercise. It is great for the hip flexors and also works the lower rectus abdominis and will even target the rectus femoris portion of the quadriceps (the center of the quadriceps muscle).
Waist Twist – Stretching: can offer be offered in any manner – beginning, intermediate or advance. With the size and amount of buoyancy you and your clients will find this product is amazing for stretching. For the beginner, we recommend after the water walking, once the muscles are warm to then move the EZ Swimmer® from side to side. This twisting motion not only helps the waist line but serves to give a better stretch to the …….muscles of the arms and shoulders. Rotator cuff injuries recommend a movement called…..
Side Note: Land Push-ups – Wall: Yes, we know this is about water exercises but we have to share this with you. Wall push-ups with the EZ Swimmer® offer an outstanding resistance exercise for beginners. You will note the comfortable hand grip. If you are doing this in the pool area, we recommend all clients wear shoes for safety on the pool deck.
